JOB VACANCY

Summer Programming Student (Seasonal)

The summer programming student will assist the Programming and Community Engagement Coordinator in the planning, designing and implementation of summer programs for 2024.

Education, Skills and Experience

  1. Post-secondary, college, or university student
  2. Enrollment in a library technician or recreational/educational program would be an asset
  3. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  4. Customer service skills including conflict resolution, teamwork, professional work ethic and commitment to excellence
  5. Experience working with children
  6. Access to transportation and current driver’s license
  7. Vulnerable sector police record check required

The position will start mid-May 2024. Full-time role and hours per week may include days, evenings and occasional Saturdays. Work sites will include both the Mary J. Benson Branch and The Hub at Canton.

Volunteer Opportunities

The Library has volunteer opportunities for teens and adults. Some Library programs and services would not be possible without the generous support of our volunteers. Please contact Lisa O'Leary or 905-885-4712 ext 2627. We require all individuals interested in voluteering to complete a Volunteer Application prior to consideration. Friends of the Library

Port Hope Public Library Board invites the community to be part of a Friends of the Library group. The group has an executive and meets monthly - everyone is welcome. Meeting dates can be found on the Events Calendar or please ask Library staff. Come out to learn all about how Friends support libraries through advocacy, building awareness, fundraising, volunteering and program support.
