Port Hope Public Library offers free Internet and computer access at both branches.

Available at the Mary J. Benson Branch
  • High-speed Internet access
  • A wireless hot spot - if you have a wireless device, you may access the Internet anywhere from within the building or the parking lot, just open your browser and login as 'Library Guest', there is no password
  • Computerized booking system that lets you use your library card to book and schedule your computer sessions up to two days in advance
  • 8 adult Internet stations
  • 2 Microsoft Office stations with Internet access for research and job searches
  • 2 Teen Machines offering Internet access in the Young Adult area
  • 2 Children’s Internet stations
  • 1 Early Literacy tablet loaded with reading and math games for children aged 3 to 7 years old
  • 2 Genealogy Research Station with access to the Internet and the CemSearch cemetery record database
  • Microfilm printer-reader workstation with extra large monitor for viewing Newspaper pages
  • Microfilm reader, very low tech
  • 2 Library catalogue stations in the Adult Library
  • 1 Library catalogue station in the Children’s Library
  • Printing from all Internet and Word Processing stations at a charge of $0.25/page or $0.50/page for colour

It’s easy to book Internet or computer time.

  • Computer booking stations are available for children and adults on both floors of the Library
  • Scan your library card at a booking station and choose an Internet or Research station. You can also make a computer reservation by phoning the Library at 905.885.4712. Please have your library card handy when you phone
  • Port Hope Public Library's Internet Use Policy

Choose the length of and type of session that suits your needs.

  • The adult, teen and children’s Internet stations offer 45-minute sessions for email, chat and surfing the Net
  • The Research workstations offer 1-hour sessions for homework, research and employment searches. These stations also offer access to a scanner, disk drive, CD drive and USB port
  • Internet and Computer users are allowed 2 sessions per day
  • Computer sessions may be booked up to 2 days in advance
