April 2     Funny Face (1957) 1 hr 43 min.

Fashion photographer Dick Avery (Fred Astaire) takes over a bookstore for a shoot—that leaves the place in a shambles, to the dismay of salesgirl Jo Stockton (Audrey Hepburn). Avery sees Jo in one photo and offers her a modeling contract. She accepts only as it includes a trip to Paris, but then…

Nominated for 4 Oscars. Cyd Charisse declined the lead role, which was also rejected by Hepburn’s agent; she overrode him after reading the script. She turned down the lead in Gigi to make this, which she filmed back-to-back with Love in the Afternoon. Fred Astaire starred in the original 1927 Broadway “Funny Face” with his sister Adele, but the storylines of play and movie are entirely different.
